BRENDAN POWERS TO TEACH MASTER CLASS

Star of Penobscot Theatre Company’s “August: Osage County” teaches students about dynamic acting

Bangor, ME – Brendan Powers who is currently starring in Penobscot Theatre Company’s production of August: Osage County will be teaching a master class at the Bangor Opera House on May 16, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. “Selling the Scene: Keys to a Compelling Performance” has been designed to engage participants in actively working on scenes with insight and guidance from Powers, a veteran performer and master instructor. It is appropriate for adults and high school students. The cost is $25.

Powers, a member of the Actors’ Equity Association, appeared previously in Penobscot Theatre Company’s productions of Annie (Daddy Warbucks) and Our Town (Stage Manager). He has served for several years as a company member with the Florida Repertory Theatre in Fort Myers. Other stage credits include the Tony Award-winning play, Art, and The Big Knife, both with Alec Baldwin; the Noel Coward revue Oh, Coward! at Off-Broadway’s Irish Repertory Theatre; and he has appeared on television as FBI agent Rick Cranston on Graceland (USA Network), and David Weller in the Netflix original series, Bloodline, starring Sissy Spacek and Sam Shepard.

About Amy Roeder

Director of Education – Amy Roeder is pleased to be joining the staff at PTC. Amy received her BFA in theatre from the University of Evansville and her Master of Fine Arts in acting from The University of Georgia. She recently relocated to Bangor from Chicago where she taught and performed with famed comedy institution The Second City. Local audiences may have seen her onstage with Improv Acadia in Bar Harbor where she has been a company member since 2005. Amy has performed all over the country including at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Cincinnati’s Playhouse in the Park and with the Improv Asylum in Boston. In addition to teaching acting and improvisation classes all over the world, Amy is also designs and facilitates workshops in improvisational techniques for businesses. Amy hates writing in the third person.
