Penobscot Theatre Company offers savings, surprises, audition opportunities and more!

Half Season Subscriptions, Audition Information, and MORE!

40th-logoPenobscot Theatre Company is pleased to announce a special half-season subscription offer to take the chill off this January. For just $90, half-season subscribers can enjoy all three remaining shows of the season, a savings of up to $21.

“For our 40th-anniversary season, we wanted to deliver a thrill ride,” said Artistic Director Bari Newport. “We got rolling with a feel-good farce, increased the adrenaline with a classic ghost play, rollicked with Cinderella: A New Telling of an Old Tale, and put it in reverse for a bit to reunite The Plaids. The midway point of the season is like the top of the roller coaster, and that’s the best time to get on board!”

World Premiere of One Blue Tarp January 30 – February 16

Kicking things off is ONE BLUE TARP (January 30-February 16) a world premiere by Orono playwright and UMaine adjunct professor Travis Baker and last year’s winner of the prestigious Clauder Award for Best Play in New England. Set in Maine, this comedy presents competing visions of the way life should be, sure to resonate with natives and folks from away. ONE BLUE TARP also stars UMaine Chair of the School of Performing Arts, Tom Mikotowicz and UMaine adjunct professor of acting, Julie Arnold Lisnet.

Next up is the Tony-Award-winning God of Carnage, (March 13 – 30) starring

localstand-outs AJ Mooney, Jeri Misler, and Bernard Hope, along with former Artistic Director Mark Torres. “We’ve enticed Mark back to the company’s stage to help celebrate our 40th-anniversary season, and I am absolutely giddy! He played a huge role in the theatre’s proud history, ably leading the organization for more than a decade, and we’re honored to welcome him home.”

Our Town April 24 - May 11

Our Town April 24 – May 11

“Home” is at the core of Our Town, (April 24 – May 11) which will close the subscription season, April 24-May 11.   With Newport directing, this special production promises to be the highlight of the milestone season. World-renowned monologist Mike Daisey, a Maine native, will play the Stage Manager, coming home to share the stage with his father, Bob Daisey along with the extraordinarily talented Monica Willey and Jordan Lorenz, also of the Bangor area. Northern Maine musician Jacob Augustine has composed an original score for the production, and he will play live at every evening performance. Special OUR TOWN matinees are scheduled for school groups, and interested parties may reserve space by contacting Jasmine Ireland at jasmine@penobscottheatre.org .

“As a final gift to our audience this season, and maybe to prove that we’re not slowing down at 40, we’re offering another enormously exciting bonus production: THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW – not the film, the live stage show that has become a cult classic, complete with goody bags and audience participation, of course!” Directed and choreographed by Nathan Halvorson, the production will have a limited two-week run, June 12-22. Like all subscribers, those taking advantage of the half-season subscription offer will have first dibs on these hot tickets.

Tickets will be made available to the public beginning March 1st.
