Penobscot Theatre Announces Dramatic Academy Summer!

2012 summer students perform Spring Awakening

Penobscot Theatre’s Dramatic Academy is pleased to announce its Summer Programming.  Penobscot Theatre offers high quality educational programming to all ages with a focus on study with highly trained industry professionals.  Our summer programs afford students the opportunity to take over the Opera House and perform on our main stage!  Two sessions of “camp” will be held at The Bangor Opera House this year.  Session 1 (June 24 – July 12) will offer programming that features the work of William Shakespeare. Session 2 (July 29 – August 16) will focus on musical theater productions.  New to the program this year is the addition of our Show Choir Camp!  Show Choir will be available during both sessions.  Programming is available from students ages 4 to 21, so there is something for everyone!

PTC’s program is a full day camp resulting in performances for each age group on the main stage at the culmination of the three week session. In addition to rehearsals, students will have a track of classes to follow including voice, dance, and improvisation among others according to the production in which they are participating.  Please visit the Education page of our website penobscottheatre.org for a full listing of schedules, plays, costs, and to download a registration form.

PTC also provides practical work experience for youth in the summer.  A limited number of Camp Counselor positions are available during our summer session.  The Camp Counselor Program is an Internship Program for High School students who are interested in working in the arts and teaching children.  Further information and application forms can be found at our website.

In order to help make sessions affordable and available to as many students as possible, Penobscot Theatre is offering a number of discounts and several scholarships to help defray the cost of class for those with financial challenges.  Discounts are available for sibling enrollment, multiple registration enrollment, and early registration.  A limited number of partial scholarships are also available.  Scholarship applications can be found on our website.
