The Bangor Opera House Sessions begin Saturday, October 6th.

Beginning in July of 2011, Sasha Alcott and Chris Viner started curating a series of

“WPC Presents” events in the Bangor area which are evenings of live, original music including acts from the Bangor area coupled with touring musicians. The concept was, and is to cross pollinate the Northeastern United States indie music scene with the burgeoning scene in Bangor. The series has taken place in a variety of establishments and has recently expanded to include acts from as far as Pittsburgh PA. The duo are happy to offer a second evening of music as part of their partnership with the Penobscot Theater Company, housed in the historic Bangor Opera House. The current PTC mission  “To present high-quality, professional works of theatre that inspire the imagination and cultivate a lifelong passion for the art form”  melds well with the mission of WPC Presents to make Bangor a destination for professional, live and original music performances.

Jacob Augustine

The second event of the WPC Presents at the Bangor Opera House series will be on Saturday October 6th from 8-10pm, FREE of charge for admission though donations are highly encouraged. Jacob Augustine and Sara Hallie Richardson will be the performers for this 21+ event.  Jacob Augustine is an experimental folk musician from the Northern woods of Maine. He has lived all over the country, crisscrossing the United States performing for over a decade in various projects. While living in California in 2008 he recorded his first full-length album entitled Harmonia, which was then released in early 2009, just months after moving back to Maine to live in the Portland area.

Emily Stoddard Burnham of the Bangor Daily News describes “The special kind of atmosphere that Portland singer-songwriter Sara Hallie Richardson creates is best captured on her newest album, “Restless,” a six-song EP released earlier this year. There’s a clear, crystalline beauty in both her voice and in the electronic soundscape”.

Donations will be accepted at the event in order to both cover the costs of putting on the event as well as to support the Penobscot Theater Company who work tirelessly to keep the Opera House open and full of quality, professional performances.

This event, like all WPC Presents evenings, is generously sponsored by the Bangor Daily News.
