Mark Duplass

Writer, director, producer, and actor, Mark Duplass first made a name for himself when he starred in, co-wrote, and co-directed a string of award-winning short films which premiered at Sundance in 2003 and 2004. He and his brother Jay also wrote and directed the 2005 Sundance breakout hit The Puffy Chair, which went on to win the Audience Award at SXSW 2005 and was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards. The film was released theatrically by Roadside Attractions and Netflix in 2006. Baghead, their next feature film, was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics at Sundance 2008 and released later that year. Fox Searchlight recently released Mark and Jay’s first studio feature, Cyrus, starring John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei, which garnered rave reviews and earned the second highest per-screen average for any film that year. Their latest film, Paramount’s Jeff Who Lives At Home, stars Jason Segal, Ed Helms, Susan Sarandon, and Judy Greer and is currently in release.

As an actor, Mark co-starred in 2005’s The Puffy Chair, Joe Swanberg’s 2007 Hannah Takes The Stairs from IFC Films, and 2009’s breakout Sundance hit Humpday from Magnolia Pictures. Katie Aselton is an acclaimed actor and filmmaker most well known for her starring role in the FX comedy show “THE LEAGUE.” The show debuted in 2009 and will enter its fourth season this fall.

Aselton’s breakout acting role came in the 2005 Sundance hit THE PUFFY CHAIR. Directed by Mark and Jay Duplass, the film was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards. THE FREEBIE, Aselton’s directorial debut in which she also stars, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. The film was acquired by Phase 4 Films following its Sundance premiere and released theatrically in September 2010. In his rave New York Times review Stephen Holden called the film “a prelude to a Strindbergian nightmare.”

Aselton’s follow-up to THE FREEBIE, the survivor thriller BLACK ROCK, premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. BLACK ROCK, which stars Aselton, Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth, was one of the most buzzed about films at Sundance and sold to LD Entertainment who will distribute the film theatrically this fall.

Other notable film roles for Aselton include INTERVENTION (Berlin 2006, Silver Bear and Teddy Award), CYRUS (Sundance 2010) and Kyle Patrick Alvarez’s EASIER WITH PRACTICE (2010 Independent Spirit Award Winner). Aselton was also recently seen in Jesse Peretz’ 2011 comedy OUR IDIOT BROTHER opposite Paul Rudd.
