SUMMER INTERNSHIPS AT PENOBSCOT THEATRE

Penobscot Theatre Company, the nation’s most Northeastern year-round professional theatre company, seeks High-School and college aged interns to assist in production, marketing, education and artistic administration from June through August.

Artistic Director, Bari Newport says, “I got my start spending summers interning at theatres around the country. Those experiences absolutely shaped the career I have and the person I am today. I not only learned every aspect of this business, but I remember those summers with such a degree of personal fondness. I want to make sure Bangor area young people, have the opportunity for those same experiences.”

Penobscot Theatre Company is producing six youth plays and musicals this summer as part of its extended summer camp program, where interns are given a hands on performance based experience. The opportunities for experiential learning however do not stop with being on stage. PTC is actively seeking smart, curious, tenacious individuals to join the summer production and administrative teams. Newport says, “we are not only constructing scenery for the summer youth productions, we are also actively marketing and planning for next season. The beauty of non-profit regional theatre is, there is always something to be done – and there is always something to be learned.”

High-School rising Juniors and Seniors and college students with strengths in carpentry, costumes, lighting, stage management, writing and management, are asked to send a brief letter of interest and a resume to Jasmine Ireland, Education Director at jasmine@penobscottheatre.org.
